Bye Bye Carpet!

Last weeks big project at Grandma and Grandpas was tearing out the old carpet. When I say old I mean old. It is the original carpet installed in 1998/99 when we built the house. It has held up to numerous spills of nail polish,  soda, and food (even a colored cake thanks to yours truly).

Below is the guys pulling padding/staples and tearing out the tack strips as well as the pile of carpet on the deck. It was funny watching the dogs running around going crazy in the carpet. They acted like it was a bunch of tunnels and a jungle gym till it was rolled up and hauled out with the trash.

Brendon loved helping and I wish I had gotten more photos of the work in progress but here are a few of him helping to pull out the staples and nails. Uncle Keith showing Brendon how to use the staple remover.

Here is another of Brendon pulling staples out as uncle Keith points them out on the floor. Nathan sweeping up the sand, staples and padding so we could paint the floor.
Daddy, Uncle Keith and Nick (Keith's roommate) painted the floor to seal/protect it till we put the new flooring in. Brendon loved going over the next day to play. He thought it was "Awesome" to have the wide open space to run (all the furniture was sitting in the kitchen and dinning room), the only downfall to the open space was how much it echoed, but that changed once we shifted furniture back again.
