In Memory Of

Nate's Christmas Gift

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, due to Nates job it is also a stressful time of year. Not very many people want construction work done during the holiday season go figure. Any way we budget out Christmas and there are always a million things I can get him but decide against because it is nothing special.

This year I had it in  my  mind on what I wanted to do from the moment I saw this fire place at a craft swap! (If you get the chance to go to a free swap do it! So many treasures to be found)

Anyway with Nates Grandfather passing away I wanted to give him something to remember him by. So far he hasn't asked for anything nor received anything, also with Grammy (his grandmother) moving we wouldn't get to the house again. Anyway, in his grandparents home is a fireplace made of brick, not quite the same but you get the idea.

Nate's grand father was an avid gardener and handy man while he could. I found a garden set to place by the fire place and a tool box and tool set to embellish it. I love seeing the pictures of Nate working on projects at his grandparents and these items seemed fitting symbols for a lot of the stories and photos. If only I had a feather rock to put on it. He he he. (ask Nate the story)

The final add was the books on top of the mantel. This was more of a personal memory too me. As you know I love collecting good books (I can be a snob too). His grandparents had shelves upon shelves of books and the one visit I was able to go on I loved seeing everything they had. I remember chatting about the books and the stories on the shelves.
